These cookies are the perfect project to share with family or friends. My kids always jump in to help sprinkle the holiday colors on top, and it warms my heart to see their excitement when the cookies come out of the oven, golden and ready to enjoy.

Why You’ll Love These Cookies

  • Quick Prep Time: In just 15 minutes, you’ll have dough ready to go.
  • No-Chill Dough: Say goodbye to long waits. This dough is ready to bake right away.
  • Customizable: Whether you press the dough into festive shapes or keep it simple, these cookies always look and taste incredible.
  • Perfect for Gifting: Add them to your holiday cookie trays or package them in cute tins for the perfect homemade gift.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Butter: Real butter is key to achieving that rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
  • Sugar: Adds the perfect amount of sweetness.
  • Egg: Helps bind the dough together.
  • Flour & Salt: The foundation of any good cookie.
  • Almond Extract: This is the secret ingredient that gives these cookies their unique and festive flavor.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar. This step makes the cookies light and tender.
  3. Beat in the egg. Make sure it’s fully incorporated for a smooth dough.
  4. Mix in the dry ingredients. Slowly add the flour and salt until just combined.
  5. Add the almond extract. This is where the magic happens!
  6. Shape the dough. Scoop 1 tablespoon of dough, roll it into a ball, and press down with a fork.
  7. Decorate. Add holiday-colored sprinkles for a festive touch.
  8. Bake. Pop them in the oven for 9–12 minutes, or until the bottoms are just starting to brown.

Tips for Success

  • Butter Matters: Stick with real butter, not margarine, for the best flavor and texture.
  • Customize the Look: If you have a cookie press, go ahead and create fun shapes like stars or trees.
  • Storage: These cookies stay fresh for up to a week in an airtight container, making them perfect for advance holiday prep.
